Unfortunately, not everyone in the Real Estate, Mortgage, and Investments businesses is totally honest and above board! Does that suprise you? As frequently as I see people get duped by hucksters, it must come as a big suprise to many folks, that not everyone has their best intersts in mind. Let's face it, Real Estate deals involve a lot of money and are the largest investments that most people ever make - wouldn't it make sense to use utmost caution when conducting such transactions?
In my 20+ years in the business, you would think that I had seen every scam. Wrong!!!
New scams are invented every day. Very often, even the very people perpetrating them don't know that they are doing wrong. They've gone to some seminar and paid a lot of money for a "training" program on how to get rich quick in Real Estate, and don't even see how some of the things they learn are bogus and unethical.
I continue to see ads in the paper, on TV, and on the Internet, from people looking to seperate others from their money. Here is a bit of advice:
You can't get a good evaluation of the market value of your home online. You can't buy foreclosed homes for pennies on the dollar You can't get rich quick flipping properties You can't get a mortgage loan that makes sense for 4% You can't list your home for 1% and get full service You can't get exclusive information as advertised by some Realtors. It is available to all through the local MLS
Please use your head - don't let Greed or fear make you do something stupid. Always research these fantastic claims that you see and check with the B.B.B. and D.A. at the very least. As expensive as lawyers are, they may often be your best line of defense against shady deals.
